Lady Redhawks Get Revenge
LaRoche Evens Season Series Against Beaver

Pittsburgh, PA - The Penn State Beaver Lady Lions Volleyball Team (7-9, 6-3 PSUAC) fell to the Lady Redhawks of LaRoche College losing, 3-1 (25-23, 25-16, 25-17,25-16), splitting the two teams meetings to one a piece for the season. Each team won at their home venue.
In the first set, Beaver hung tough with the Redhawks before losing 25-23.
The second set however, Beaver succeded pulling through to a victory with excellent play from freshmen Natalie Gamble (Sto-Rox/McKees Rocks, PA) and Rachel Grubbs (Freeport/Sarver, PA) and a score of 25-16.
Unfortunately, Beaver could not continue their momentum as they dropped the third set with Beaver falling to LaRoche, 25-17.
LaRoche, put Beaver away by dominating the fourth set and earning a 25-16 victory.
In the loss, Beaver was led by Grubbs who recorded 9 kills, 16 assists, and 8 digs. Gamble added 8 kills and 6 digs. Freshmen Jenn Fannin (Harbor Creek/Erie, PA) and Ella Epps (Penn Hills/Pittsburgh, PA) contributed 7 kills each. Amanda Palumbo (Quigley/Aliquippa, PA) led the team with 17 digs, and Fannin led Beaver with 5 aces. Epps and Gamble also had 2 aces a piece.
The Lady Lions will travel to PSUAC rival Penn State Greater Allegheny (McKeesport, PA) on Wednesday, October 5, 2011 at 7 p.m.
