Late Push Falls Short as Penn State Beaver Drops 75–69 Decision to Du Bois
Penn State Beaver couldn’t quite erase an early deficit, falling 75–69 to Penn State Du Bois in a tightly contested PSUAC matchup at the Beaver Field House.
Monaca, PA - Penn State Beaver dropped a hard-fought home contest to Penn State Du Bois, 75–69, at the Beaver Field House. Beaver entered the day 15–3 overall (8–1 conference) and was pushed for four quarters before Du Bois' steady scoring and late-game execution held up. Despite the loss, Beaver showed balance across the lineup and generated chances with active hands and timely perimeter looks, but couldn't quite flip the game in the final minutes.
Du Bois set the tone early, jumping out to a 21–9 lead as Beaver struggled to match the visitors' pace. in the second quarter, Beaver responded with better energy and execution, winning the period 19–15 to cut into the margin at halftime, 36–28. After halftime, the game opened up offensively, with Beaver posting 24 points in the frame, but Du Bois kept answering and still held the edge, 56–52, heading to the fourth. Beaver continued to battle, yet Du Bois' steady scoring and control of key possessions down the stretch allowed the visitors to close out the six-point win.
For Beaver, Ny'Ashia Barnes led the way with 17 points, while Caitlyn O'Hara added 16 points and 11 rebounds for a double-double. Bailey Rieg chipped in 14 points, and the team finished at 29-for-67 shooting (43.3%). Beaver's defense created activity with 18 steals and 4 blocks, but the difference came at the free-throw line, where Beaver went 8-for-22, and on the glass overall, where Du Bois held a sizable rebounding advantage.
The loss snaps Beaver's attempt to protect home court against a strong Du Bois side and serves as a reminder of how thin the margin is in conference play—especially when free throws and rebounding swing the possession battle. Beaver showed resilience after the slow start and proved it can generate offense in bursts, but converting at the stripe and finishing defensive possessions will be key as the Lions look to rebound in their next outing.
