Unionville, PA -- The Beaver men began their season at home on Thursday night versus a non-conference opponent, Washington Adventist. The men come into this game looking to continue their success from last year as the defending PSUAC champs. With a good roster with a lot of young talent Beaver looks to be a contender once again this year.

The first half started off as a battle between the two teams as neither looked like they would easily give up a goal. In the 42 minute however, Adventist managed to get a penalty kick and capitalized on it, scoring the games first goal. Even though Adventist took the lead Beaver still wouldn't budge an inch as they played stellar defense with great goaltending by Samuel Sharpless.

The second half started off on a different tone as Beaver came out looking to even this game up quickly, and in the 54 minute they did as they were able to get a penalty kick of their own in which Julius Illiano scored tying the game up at one goal a piece. As the half went on Beaver started to really push to get the lead and in doing so Adventist took advantage of a tired Beaver team scoring a goal in the 70 minute, giving them the lead. Beaver never managed to get much going after that as sloppy play ended up in two more Adventist goals as they went on to win the game by a score of 4-1.

Beaver played a good game in their season opener, losing to a very tough team in Washington Adventist. Although their offense wasn't quite there yet their defense held up very well against Adventist, as goalie Samuel Sharpless looked very good making some impressive stops and racking up eight saves throughout the game. The men will return to action on Tuesday, September 6 at home against LaRoche. The game will start at 4 pm.
