PSUAC All-Conference Teams are announced
Nine Beaver players receive All-Conference honors
Monaca, PA -- With the PSUAC Baseball and Softball seasons complete, nine student athletes from Penn State Beaver recieved All-Conference honors.
Being named 1st Team All-Conference in softball were junior, Nicole Bowersox (Penns Valley, PA/Penn Valley) and senior Korey Freyermuth (Pittsburgh, PA/Perry). Bowersox is continuing to have an impressive season hitting .409 with a team and conference leading 26 stolen bases. Freyermuth is also continuing her standout season hitting .431 with 25 RBI's. Korey was also named PSUAC Pitcher of the Year with an overall record of 19-12. She has an ERA of 2.61 with 152 strikeouts.
Being named 2nd Team All-Conference in softball were junior, Lauren Pier (New Brighton, PA/New Brighton) and sophomore, Sydney Brinton (Pittsburgh, PA/Brashear). Pier is hitting .347 with a conference leading 32 RBI's. She also has 4 home runs on the season. Brinton is hitting .337 and has 26 RBI's and has 4 home runs of her own on the season.
Being named 1st Team All-Conference in baseball were seniors, Markus Allen (New Castle, PA/Union) and Vincent Beatty (Rochester, PA/Rochester). Allen hit .443 (3rd highest in the PSUAC) with a team leading 29 RBI's and 2 home runs this season. He also had 13 stolen bases. His accomplishments this season also earned him the title of Player of the Year. Beatty, a pitcher, had a PSUAC leading ERA of 2.62. He also had 26 strikeouts in 127 batters faced in 34 innings.
Being named 2nd Team All-Conference in basbeall were seniors, Cory Wagner (Monaca, PA/Center), Alex Filippi (Aliquippa, PA/Center) and Jim Musgrave (Economy, PA/Ambridge). Wagner, a pitcher and first baseman, hit .387 with 11 RBI's and from the mound had a 7.11 ERA. Filippi hit .348 with a team and PSUAC leading 14 stolen bases only being caught just one time all season. Musgrave hit .304 with 26 RBI's.
