McKeesport, PA -- Beaver goes 2-0 on the day to extend win streak to 5 games.
In their first game of action at Greater Allegheny, Beaver faced Penn State Worthington Scranton. After getting off to a sluggish start in the first set, only winning by a six point margin (25-19), the Lady Lions then cruised by Scranton in the second two sets winning each by a score of 25-15 for the 3-0 victory. Beaver served well in the match, combining for 13 aces, led by Ryanne "Roxy" Kie who contributed five. Offensively, Kie distributed the ball well to her hitters with 25 assists, led by Imani Hargrove who had 7 kills in 13 attempts and comitted zero hitting errors. Right behind her was Amanda Mike with 5 kills.
In the second game of the day, Beaver easily defeated Penn State Wilkes Barre 3-0. In the first set, the team was led by Hargrove, Kie and Jenna Petrucci who each had two kills as they won quickly, 25-4. The second set was led by Petrucci with three kills as the Lady Lions won 25-7. And in the third and final set it was Hargrove and Brooke Tomasko who led the way with three kills a piece while a big time kill came from Trestena Grant at a pivotal time in the game. Beaver served extremely well this game combining for 24 aces, led by Alexis Albrecht and Tomasko who each had nine in the game.
The Lady Lions now sit at 9-2 in the PSUAC and are set to return to action on Wednesday, October 11th when they travel to Penn State Dubois for another PSUAC contest scheduled for 7:00 p.m.
