Monaca, PA -- Lady Lions Win in Last Home Game of the Season

The Beaver Lady Lions faced off Monday afternoon in a conference double header against Penn State New Kensington. Beaver went 2-0 for the day in their last home games of the regular season.
Beaver started the first game with 3 runs and 5 hits in the first inning. Kayla Campbell, Brenna Cepull and Carley Schroeder all singled with an RBI each, while New Kensington struggled to keep their bases empty. Beaver made an additional 3 runs and 5 hits in the second, with Jess Hughes singling out with an RBI and Cepull doubling with an RBI.
After a scoreless third, Beaver made 2 runs in the fourth. Schroeder grounded out as Campbell ran home, and Torey Cassidy later singled with an RBI. The game ended after 5 innings, with Beaver winning 8-0.
Game 2 started with Cable hitting out to center field with a SAC fly and an RBI. In the bottom of the second, Beaver made 4 runs, as Katie Valiga singled to left field, gaining an RBI. Campbell singled and advanced to second, later making a run as Hughes doubled to center field. The third and fourth went scoreless, but Beaver made 3 runs in the fifth. Vanessa Jackson singled to center field, gaining 2 RBIs as Cassidy and Tara McFadden each ran home. Just like in the first game, Beaver won game 2 by a score of 8-0.
The team is now 22-12 overall and 15-5 in their conference games. They are currently tied at first with Penn State Fayette, and will take them on Wednesday afternoon for a playoff bid.
