Baseball sweeps Penn State Greater Allegheny on Senior day

Beaver started the first game hot scoring two runs in the bottom of the first inning. Junior Steve Antolic (Freedom,PA/Ambridge) drove in Junior Blaise McCarty (Beaver Falls, PA/Riverside) for the first run. Senior Derek Bozic (Beaver Falls, PA/Beaver Falls) singled in Junior Jake Debo (New Brighton, PA/New Brighton) for the second run of the inning. Greater Allegheny scored a run in the top of the second to cut Beaver's lead to one. Beaver added three runs in the bottom of the second increasing the lead to 5-1. The offense would come back in the bottom of the fifth inning when Sophomore Shawn Shaner (Adrian, PA/Kittaning) doubled driving in two runs. Sophomore Duncan Miklos (Beaver Falls, PA/Blackhawk) would add another double hitting in another run making the score 8-1. The final score would turn out to be 8-2 in favor of Beaver.

Bozic would lead Beaver with two hits. Six other players produced a hit in the game. Shaner led the team with two rbis.

Junior Nick Casasanta (Moon Twp., PA/Moon) pitched seven innings picking up the win. Nick had four strikeouts and allowed only two earned runs to come across the plate.

Greater Allegheny started the second game off with two runs in the top of the first. Beaver bounced back with an Antolic double scoring Senior Tyler Thellman (Beaver Falls, PA/Blackhawk), and a Bozic single bringing Antolic home tieing the game at 2-2. Allegheny added three runs in the top of the second going back up 5-2. Thellman and Antolic would both have back to back rbi singles making the score 5-4. Sophomore Matt Capo (Moon Twp.,PA/Moon) tripled in the bottom of the third scoring two runs giving Beaver the lead back 6-5. The Beaver offense scored four runs in the bottom of the fifth making the score 10-5 in favor of Beaver. The final score turned out to be 12-9 giving Beaver the sweep on the day.

Thellman and ANtolic both led the offense with three hits. Bozic and Capo followed with two. Bozic recorded three rbis followed by McCarty, Thellman, Antolic, and Capo with two.

Senior Matt Sweikowski (Zelienople, PA/Senaca Valley) picked up the win for Beaver throwing six and a third innings.
