Beaver was on the board first on a beautiful day at home putting up three runs in the first inning. Stephen Antolic doubles scoring Tyler Thellman. Jake Debo doubled and scored Antolic. Nick Casasanta doubled and scored Jake debo all in the bottom of the first inning. It looked like a promising day just by the first inning of play.
The second inning rolled around and Schuylkill tied it up 3-3 going into the bottom half of two. The next two innings went scoreless. Schuylkill then put up four runs in the top half of the fifth inning and that would be enough as Beaver's offense could not put anything else together this game. Schuylkill would add two more runs in the top half of the sixth to make the score 9-3.
Leading the offense for Beaver was Antolic, Debo, and Casasanta all contributing with a double and an RBI.
Game two of the doubleheader was much more fundamentally sound and well played. Throwing an excellent game from the mound was senior Matt Sweikowski. Schuylkill was on the board first scraping across a run in the top of the first but Beaver answered in the bottom half of the inning. Casasanta doubled scoring Tyler Thellman and moving Stephen Antolic to third. Jake Debo then tripled scoring Antolic and Casasanta.
Antolic lead off the bottom half of the fifth inning with a solo homerun, Beaver then loaded the bases but they were left stranded. Schuylkill would get one more run in the top of the sixth to make the score 4-2 going into the seventh inning. Schuylkill had the bases loaded with two outs but left them loaded as Beaver escaped game two with a victory to even the series.
Leading offensively for Beaver was Antolic, Casasanta and Debo each having two hits a piece. Casasanta and Antolic both had an RBI and Debo had two to help Beaver improve to 5-3 in the PSUAC. Sweikowski pitched 6.2 innings with one strikeout and held Schulykill in check to help seal the victory. Beaver returns to action again at home tomorrow against Penn State Brandywine, at 12 and 2:30 p.m.
